Standard Package Exclusions:
Experience the Yucatan in a unique way! We offer upscale service on organized tours through the new concept of Concierge Service Airport, Meet, Greet & Escort. From the very minute you arrive to Cancun and throughout your time on the tour you will be escorted by our certified guide.
Day 1: Welcome to Cancun
We will greet you at Cancun International Airport and transfer you to Chichen Itza where you will stay at either the Hotel Chichen Itza or the Mayaland Hotel, the only hotel with its own private entrance to the archaeological ruins. Enjoy time to relax and stargaze before heading back to your room (if you are already staying at Cancun, we pick you up at your hotel or meeting point).
Day 2: Chichen Itza Archaeological Park
Start the day with breakfast at your hotel. After you eat, you'll take a private guided tour of the archaeological site beginning in the Great Plaza, the heart of Chichen Itza. You will visit the Ball Game Court, the Temple of the Jaguars, the famous Temple (pyramid) of the God Kukulcán, the Tzompantli Platform, the Temple of the Warriors and the Temple of One Thousand Columns. Then you will see the Sacred Cenote, the Mayan Observatory and a set of buildings constructed during the Maya Classic Period including the Nunnery, La Iglesia and Akab Dzib.
Lunch will be served at the Mayaland Hotel. Enjoy an afternoon to yourself and relax by the pool or take an optional horseback riding tour. You are also free to stroll through our beautiful gardens and enjoy exotic bird watching - the Yucatan boasts more species than the United States and Canada combined.
At night we will visit the Light and Sound Show at Chichen Itza. For about 25 minutes you'll be seated in front of the pyramid to enjoy the projection and discover more about Chichen Itza's amazing history.
If you are staying at the Hotel Chichen Itza, you will be driven back to your hotel. Dinner will be served at the Mayaland Hotel’s “El Mural” dining room and terrace.
Day 3: Ek Balam-Rio Lagartos Pink Flamingo Reserve
After breakfast, we will depart for the northern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula via the magnificent site of Ek Balam to Rio Lagartos on the Mexican Gulf Coast. Ek Balam (black jaguar) is one of the most magnificent and mysterious cities ever discovered. Its main Temple features a recently discovered jaguar jaw in delicate stucco relief along with several feathered sculptures.
Upon arrival in Rio Lagartos, we will take a wonderful boat ride through the mangroves to visit a popular feeding ground of the beautiful pink flamingo. A box lunch will be provided along the way. You will be returned to your hotel in the late afternoon to enjoy the evening at your leisure.
Day 4: Izamal, Merida & Uxmal
After breakfast, we will depart for Merida, stopping at the colonial city of Izamal along the way. We will visit the Convent of San Francisco de Padua, Central Park, the regional market, and the impressive Pyramid of Kinich Kakmo located downtown.
Upon arrival in Merida, we will take a walking tour of the city center visiting the Zocalo or Main Square, site of the stately Cathedral, the Casa de Montejo (16th century home of the Montejo family), City Hall, and the State Government Palace. Then we will take a walking tour of the city market where many authentic arts and crafts can be found.
Lunch will be served at a traditional Mexican restaurant where you will sample authentic local cuisine while listening to the serenades of strolling trovadores. We will continue our walking tour at the church of the Tercera Orden, a beautiful 17th century monastery, followed by a visit to the Peon Contreras Theater and the University of the Yucatan. We will then board a traditional horse-drawn carriage or “calesa” for a ride to Paseo de Montejo and the Regional Museum of Anthropology and History.
We will conclude the tour with a deluxe vehicle tour around the Monument to the Nation and past the 19th century mansions of Paseo de Montejo and Avenida Colon. Then, we'll continue to Uxmal for hotel check-in and dinner at either the Hacienda Uxmal Hotel or The Lodge at Uxmal.
Day 5: Uxmal
Enjoy breakfast at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel. We will walk to the archaeological site of Uxmal for a guided tour of the oval-shaped Magician’s Pyramid, the Nun’s Quadrangle with its magnificent friezes depicting the Mayan rain god, the magnificent Palace of the Governor and the impressive Great Pyramid. You'll have the afternoon free for swimming in our beautiful pools or enjoying a spa treatment.
In the evening, you are invited to attend the Uxmal Light and Sound Show, staged nightly in the Nun’s Quadrangle, Uxmal’s central plaza. Music, dialogue and illumination take place in a magnificent setting for an unforgettable introduction to the history and legends of the ancient city and the amazing “Puuc” Mayan culture. Enjoy dinner at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel.
Day 6: Becal and Campeche
Breakfast will be served at your hotel. We will take you to the village of Becal, famous for the Panama hats made by artisans who work in caves to preserve the quality of the palm fronds. Next we will proceed to the city of Campeche, once a fortified Pirate haven. Enjoy a walking city tour including visits to several small museums and places of interest in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel.
Day 7: Kabah, Sayil, Labna, Ticul, Loltun, Oxcutzcab
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading out. Our first stop is Kabah where you will see the Codz Pop, a palace famous for its facade of 250 Chac masks and statues of ancient rulers of the site. You'll also find the Palace and the Arch of Kabah, which marks the entrance to the “Sacbe”, or linking path between Kabah and Uxmal.
We will then visit Sayil, a very unique site in the land of the Maya for its three-tiered palace: a labyrinth of 70 rooms adorned with columns and beautiful stone-carved Chac masks.
Labna is a lovely classical Puuc Maya village with notable temples including The Palace and The Mirador. Minutes away we find the town of Ticul where native Mayans will show us their pottery work and reproductions of ancient Mayan figurines.
A deluxe box lunch will be provided along the way to Loltun Caves, a natural masterpiece with pre-Maya engravings dating back over four thousand years. We will also see interesting geological formations and markings of the Yucatan Peninsula’s resurgence from the sea in the Quaternary Era. Beside Loltun we find the city of Tekax where we visit a 17th century convent and fortress-like chapel that bears silent testimony to Yucatan’s turbulent past of Maya revolts against Spanish rule that resulted in the war of castes. Dinner and overnight at the Hacienda Uxmal or The Lodge at Uxmal.
Day 8: Tulum
Following breakfast at your hotel, we will leave Uxmal, heading to the archaeological site of Tulum. The Mayan word for “wall”, Tulum is indeed a walled fortress. But of all Tulum’s mighty walls, it’s most impressive are surely the steep cliffs at its base that overlook the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Discover the only site in the Mayan Riviera located right on the sea, believed to have been the main port of the Mayan Empire. After a brief visit, your deluxe van will take you to the hotel of your choice in Cancun or Riviera Maya.
