This package includes your entrance to the archeological site and a day pass to the beautiful Lodge at Uxmal, a resort hidden in the Mayan jungle only a few feet from the archaeological site
Wear light, comfortable clothing and walking/hiking shoes. Bring sunglasses, hat, bathing suit (in case you want to use the pool), biodegradable sunscreen and your camera. Bring cash for extras and tips.
Uxmal, declared a UNESCO Heritage Site, was the greatest pre-Hispanic metropolitan and religious center for the Mayan people, now an archaeological site filled with beautiful vestiges that tell tales of the past.
The archaeological site has many breathtaking structures, its most impressive one, the Pyramid of the Magician, stands at around 100 feet high. According to ancient legends, this pyramid was built by Itzamna in one night; in reality it appears to have been built in five phases and is situated so that its western stairway faces the setting sun at summer solstice. The Nunnery, named by the Spaniards as it reminisces a European-style nunnery, is another beautiful building on the site, used once as a school for training healers, astrologers and shamans. The Governor´s Palace, most likely created by hundreds of masons and sculptors, is an excellent example of stone mosaic work, it occupies five acres and contains many beautiful sculptures depicting Chaac (the rain god), serpents and astrological symbols.
Apart from these there are many beautiful vestiges that make up Uxmal’s archaeological site, you’ll surely be tired after your visit; we have a great solution for you.
Also included in this option is a day-pass to The Lodge at Uxmal. You’ll be able to make use of all of this beautiful resort’s amenities, located only a few steps from the archaeological site.
